Primary specifications and data-use evidence

How this reference uses official API specifications, protocol standards and dataset-rights documents.

Investment Research APIs · 16 October 2026 · Reference edition 1

This publication links to provider-owned specifications and HTTP standards, then tests original synthetic fixtures against a stated local contract. Documentation access, API access and permission to redistribute data are separate questions. No licensed economic dataset or issuer filing archive is bundled with the examples.

Read specifications at their actual scope

The FRED V1 observations and real-time-period references identify the selected shape and date vocabulary. World Bank developer documentation defines indicator API request and paging concepts. SEC documentation defines its public EDGAR interface families and distinguishes fact units and reporting contexts. The lab adopts narrow subsets with explicit transformation rules; a common normalized schema does not erase source-specific semantics.

HTTP retry behavior is grounded in RFC 6585 and RFC 9110. Those standards explain response and header meanings. The sample's attempt budget, fixture values, acceptance checks and simulated trace are the publication's own implementation choices. A citation to a standard should not be used to imply that a particular local timeout, backoff or checkpoint policy is required by that standard.

Separate documentation from redistribution permission

FRED's API terms preserve source owners' restrictions and require users to examine the rights associated with individual series. Access through an API does not grant unrestricted commercial redistribution. The offline examples contain invented values and do not distribute a FRED data series. A developer changing the sample into an actual API-using application must review the current terms, required notices and source-level permissions.

World Bank's data terms and catalogue licensing pages describe default licences, attribution and exceptions. Dataset or indicator metadata can impose different conditions, especially for third-party material. SEC access guidance describes fair-access requirements for automated requests. These references are starting points for the relevant operational and rights checks; the publication does not grant a licence on behalf of any source or provide a legal opinion.

Retain dated verification and original examples

The documentation review is dated 16 October 2026. The source review distinguishes direct retrieval, redirects and access failures. In particular, the older World Bank dataset-terms URL redirected to a general terms page; the linked current summary and catalogue pages supply the more specific data-use context. A retrieved document supports its contents at review time, not an assurance that the service remains unchanged.

The downloads contain original code and synthetic response fixtures, not copies of documentation pages or proprietary datasets. Provider names identify the interfaces being studied and do not imply sponsorship or certification. Report a broken reference with its URL, access date and the affected claim. Manual documentation corrections should update the dated record and affected tests together when the contract changes.

Keep in the decision record

  • Documentation availability is not a redistribution licence.
  • Synthetic fixtures are original test inputs, not real provider observations.
  • Source changes require a dated contract and test review.
